Tom Braddy's Mentor Given One Month To Live

Tom Braddy

Tom Martinez, one of the most successful community college coaches ever, and the man known for being Tom Brady's(notes) football mentor for close to a quarter-century, was recently given just a month to live as a result of complications arising from his longtime struggle with diabetes.
The Martinez family, specifically Mr. Martinez's daughter, went on Facebook to announce his current condition in his own words.
We have received some bad news that I wanted to share with all of you. I have been given a week to a month to live, depending on my body's response to medication. I want to thank you for the relationship that we shared and the friendships that allowed me to have a very successful career. As much as I would like to talk to you each in person, that is not feasible so please respect my family's need for some privacy now. If the number of lives that I've been involved with are in the thousands, then it isn't possible to talk to each and every one of you. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to teach and coach you all and I ask that you take one or two of my life lessons and pass them on to your family and friends and that will keep me alive forever. With much love and appreciation, I wish all of you a very successful and fulfilled life. TM.
Known in recent years as "The Quarterback Whisperer," Martinez won more than 1,100 combined games in three different sports at the College of San Mateo, serving as a coach for football, women's basketball and softball. He has worked with Brady, who grew up in San Mateo, for 25 years and had a training session with the future Hall-of-Famer just recently.

Most expensive football transfers all the time

"The five most expensive football transfers"

Most expensive football transfers of all time

As another fish market-esque transfer window approaches and the big teams with big bucks are ready to make the big news, one is forced to ask the obvious question as to whether all the cash splashed actually translates into on-field success. Are these millions, mirky and mendacious or honest and lucid? We attempt to answer this question by analysing the 5 most expensive transfers in football history. The likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona spend vaults and vaults of cash to ensure that their brand name is ever glitzy and we'd like to know whether it's actually happening or are these clubs living in a fool's paradise.

Cristiano Ronaldo 2009/2010 Manchester United Real Madrid £80 million
Cristiano Ronaldo made the world headlines with his record transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 and has since worked tirelessly to needle his babbling critics who gaped at his magnificent price tag.
Games Played Goals Scored Assists Goals per Game Assists per Game
89 86 22 0.9662 0.2471
The Portuguese star has scored 86 Goals in his 89 Appearances for Real Madrid at just about a goal every game. He also broke the record for most goals scored in a single La Liga campaign previously held by Athletic Bilbao’s Telmo Zarra and Madrid legend·Hugo Sánchez (38 Goals). Although Ronaldo has been breaking Goal scoring records left, right and centre, Real have only managed to win only the Copa del Rey in the time Ronaldo has dazzled the Santiago Bernabeu with his skill and flamboyance. They have been constantly overwhelmed by eternal rivals Barcelona in the league as well as the UEFA Champions League.
The Galacticos are completely dependent on the Portuguese maverick to bang in the goals which has come down to haunt them whenever the player is missing due to injury, suspension or more recently punishment.
Even though Ronaldo's goal scoring exploits are unparalled it is fair to say that the bucket loads of cash dumped at Old Trafford for his highness' services haven't paid dividends in terms of tangible weird looking gold and silver jewels (trophies!) for those in Madrid.

Zlatan Ibhrahimovic 2009/10 Internazionale Barcelona £56.5* million
Zlatan’ transfer from Inter to Barca involved Samuel Eto’o going in the opposite direction and was the world’s most expensive transfer for a few days before Ronaldo’s transfer later stole the spotlight.
Games Played Goals Scored Assists Goals per Game Assists per Game
42 22 9 0.5238 0.2142
Zlatan made 42 Appearances for the Catalan giants scoring 22 Goals, a goal every two Games. Unlike Ronaldo who had been on the score sheet in almost every match, the Swede struggled to get his bearings right both on the field and off it.
Barcelona on the other hand had a good Season winning La Liga, UEFA & Spanish Super Cups and reaching the Champions League Semi-finals with little contribution made by Ibra and by the end of the season his relationship with Guardiola deteriorated to such an extent that he was put up for sale. Ibra has been rated as one of the game’s most technically gifted players without the greatest head on him. He has commented on his uncomfortable stay in Barcelona on numerous occasions, which is an attitude frowned upon in football.
Zlatan’ transfer represents one of world’s most expensive flop deals, something that has now become a recurring phenomenon with the rich clubs.
Número tres

Kaká 2009/10 AC Milan Real Madrid £55 million
Kaká’s transfer to Madrid got the world dreaming of the impact it would have on Spanish football with Ronaldo to partner him, but the dreamers were soon yanked from lala land as the Brazilian spent most of his two seasons side-lined due to injury. Talks of him being offloaded have already begun at the Bernabeu and clubs willing to spend more millions on him are rumoured to include Chelsea, former club AC Milan and (oh how can one forget) Mogul owned Manchester City!
Games Played Goals Scored Assists Goals per Game Assists per Game
53 16 13 0.3018 0.2452
In his two disappointing seasons with the Galacitos, Kaká played 53 Games scoring 16 Goals and creating 13. Real Madrid managed to win the Copa Del Rey in this period which is quite disappointing considering the amounts of cash spent in the last two seasons.
Kaká joins the ranks of other Brazilians like Robinho who have failed to live up to their hefty price tag in Spain.
El número cuatro

Player Season Selling Club Buying Club Transfer fee
Fernando Torres 2010/11 Liverpool Chelsea £50 million
Fernando Torres’ transfer was the English’s leagues most expensive transfer ever. It gave hope to Chelsea fans around the world who were almost on the verge of tears as they watched their team surrender the title to Manchester United with their horrendous run of form. With the added quality one expected The Blues to take Europe by storm but Torres' arrival led to an almost antonymous reaction.
Games Played Goals Scored Goals per Game
18 1 0.055556
Torres has managed just one Goal in his 18 Appearances for the Blues, and his form could be described as atrocious by any striker’s standards. In Torres’ defence it could be said that he needs time to adjust to Chelsea’s style of play but for the amount of money that has been paid to acquire his services his form is hopelessly disappointing and fans and club owners deserve a lot more.
Although Torres has only been with the Blues for half-a-season he did not make any impact for Chelsea who ended their campaign trophy-less. Manager Carlo Ancelotti was forced to take the fall for Chelsea's demise but for anyone with a decent enough football eye it would have been clear that pressure from the top forced the Italian to play Torres on a regular basis which made Chelsea as sharp as a round pebble upfront. The Blues are rumoured to be looking for a player to help Torres get his goal scoring touch back, which is like buying chocolate sauce to sweeten a chocolate doughnut.
El número cinco

Player Season Selling Club Buying Club Transfer fee
Zinedine Zidane 2001/02 Juventus Real Madrid £45.7 million
Zizou’ was so confident of succeeding at Madrid that after turning into a Galatico he said that Real Madrid was a club he deserved to play for and the Frenchman more than lived up to the transfer fee. It was the most expensive football transfer at the time and remained so for eight years.
Games Played Goals Scored Goals per Game
225 49 0.2177
In his five seasons with Real Madrid, Zizou made 225 Appearances scoring 49 Goals which included the spectacular volley hit with his weaker foot in the UEFA Champions League finals win against Bayer Leverkusen in 2001/02 (2-1).
Zizou’ time with Madrid was also a golden period for the Galacitos, as they won the La Liga in 2002/03, UEFA Champions League in 2001/02, UEFA Super Cup in 2002, Spanish Super Cup in 2001 & 2003 as well as the Intercontinental Cup in 2002, a total of 6 trophies.
Of the five most expensive football transfers ever only one seems to have led to trophy oozing cabinets, the one that involved one of the greatest midfielders ever. But then again the other four transfers haven’t spent a long time with their new clubs and making judgments yet could be premature. For the sake of the fans and the club owners one hopes that these players live up to the price tag they carry and make an impact on the pitch helping their trohpy hungry teams boogie on the field.

Why college football games are gaining more popularity than professional football games?

college football games are gaining more popularity than professional football games
College football games are more popular in some respects than professional football games because there are many college football games played in the country as compared to the 32 teams of NFL. So in terms of total number of spectators College football games have far more chances for fanatic than does the professional football games.
The total number of college football games produces far more product of games for screening on TV. If you are just going by total number of Spectators College may have a benefit over the professional football games. College football games just overcome the NFL through volume because a number of college football games are played every year vs. just few for the NFL.
College football  games are more popular then professional football games for many reasons. There are some very understandable reasons that we see in our every day life but there are also reasons that go unnoticed. Main reasons of the popularity of college football  games then professional games are outlined below:
•    Players don't worry about cash
•    The spirit and obsession of the game is different.
•    College Environment
•    Love of the sport.
In professional football, all every big time player is worried about cash, how many million of dollars I can earn in the next contract while in college football games the players are not concerned about the cash quite yet. Once wealth comes into the picture the players lose the aspiration to play like they performed in college.
Spirit and obsession that professional players have is different because professional players want legend and resources, while college players want admiration, to be appreciated, and for one day to be memorized by all who attend that college football game. College football contestant are so ardent about what they do because they are demanding to make their right to play at the next level, and they will do anything it takes to be successful. Once players are in the association, they lose the spirit to put down lay it all on the line in order.

Failed property tycoon goes for Cosmos glory

Paul Kemsley brings in Pelé and Eric Cantona to revive glory days of New York football team

Failed property tycoon goes for Cosmos glory

It is a football club with no players and no stadium, and it hasn't played a match for more than 25 years. But the New York Cosmos – the team once described as "the nexus of soccer and showbiz" – has announced its first fixture since 1984, at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium on 5 August. The match – a testimonial for United's Paul Scholes – is the first step of a plan to rebuild what was once the most glamorous franchise in football, and the man with the plan is Paul Kemsley, the British property wheeler dealer best known as one of the three business friends of Lord Sugar called in to interrogate semi-final contestants on The Apprentice. The return of the Cosmos is also a comeback opportunity for Kemsley. His £500m Rock property empire collapsed in May 2009, struck down by the global financial crisis. He quit his TV role as Alan Sugar's "rottweiler" shortly after the collapse. While the administrators sifted through the financial wreckage, Kemsley headed west to New York to buy and sift through the sporting remnants of the Cosmos legacy. As the two-year administration of the Rock group of companies ends and Kemsley's fallen empire is finally dissolved, he is ensconced in a loft in New York's fashionable SoHo and hoping to shrug off the Rock failure – together with an embarrassing legal dispute over a spread bet that anticipated a Lehman Brothers recovery – and instead invest his time and part of his remaining fortune in recapturing the Cosmos magic. Kemsley may be lacking some of the essential football ingredients but he is not short of confidence. "It's gonna be huge. The Cosmos are back," he told guests at a party to pay homage to the soccer team of the 70s earlier this year. "It is the reverse of conventional football thinking," said one person familiar with Kemsley's plans. "With the Cosmos the aim is to build the brand and then build the team around that. It will not be cheap, it may not work, but it will be interesting." The cost of the Cosmos venture does not seem to trouble Kemsley. Over the years he has built a network of powerful and wealthy friends, many sharing his interest in football. Once the vice-chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, Kemsley counts currency trader Joe Lewis, Daniel Levy of ENIC International and Sugar – all with Spurs connections – among his allies. He once owned a racehorse with Spurs manager Harry Redknapp. Billionaire fashion retailer Sir Philip Green and Mike Ashley, the founder of the Sports Direct retail empire and owner of Newcastle United, are among his closest friends. Kemsley declined the opportunity to discuss his plans for the Cosmos and how, and by whom, those plans would be financed. But the bill could run into hundreds of millions of dollars if the Cosmos are ever to grace the professional soccer stage again. The biggest temptation for Kemsley is that he will try to run with the Cosmos before the team even laces its boots. The long-term brand building philosophy may have sound business credentials but it does not square with Kemsley's ambition to rapidly turn the Cosmos into "the number one soccer franchise in the world". The former property tycoon wants to buy a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise. MLS is the US professional football league, which had its first season in 1996. Its 18 franchises will be expanded to 19 next year, when a team from Montreal enters the competition, and the MLS owners have made no secret of their interest in a return for the Cosmos. With a 20th MLS franchise in the offing for the 2013 season, there is now an appetite for a re-emergence of the Cosmos and an intra-city New York rivalry with another MLS team, the New York Red Bulls, now home to former Arsenal star Thierry Henry. To emphasise the point that the Cosmos are back, one of Kemsley's first appointments was that of Pelé as the club's honorary president. It was the Brazilian football maestro who rescued US soccer from oblivion. The North American Soccer League, formed in 1968, had struggled to make an impact but its fortunes were transformed when the Cosmos persuaded the Brazilian out of semi-retirement in 1975. Pelé was joined at the Cosmos by the Italian striker Giorgio Chinaglia and by Franz Beckenbauer, who captained the German team that won the World Cup in 1974. The Cosmos swept all before them on the field, playing to sell-out crowds of up to 70,000, and were followed off the field to Studio 54 by the chic and the celebrated, from Mick Jagger to Andy Warhol. But the good times were short-lived. The league expanded too rapidly, wage bills soared and the golden age of American soccer, which had lasted just two years, began to lose its lustre when Pelé retired in 1977. Seven years later the league closed down. The Cosmos were disbanded in 1985 but such was the power of the brand that its new owner G Peppe Pinton was able to sustain a programme of youth academies and merchandise sales under the team's name. Today, the academies have been restored on the east and west coasts, and Kemsley has appointed Eric Cantona, the former Manchester United star, as the Cosmos' director of soccer. There are regular rumours that he is lining up aging United stars to join the new Cosmos party, if not in the MLS then as part of a charity and exhibition squad loosely based on basketball's Harlem Globetrotters model. Cantona summed up his appointment as follows: "The Cosmos are very strong, beautifully made, with a great past. It's kind of a mix between football and art."

Football Today

importance of football
"Football have fans all around the world"
Football was called the game of English people, but football today is known and played in almost every country around the world. Little kids to grand parents all are a big fan of football today. Today anyone can view or see the latest scores, results, fixtures or updates about football on the internet. It is the wide and easy use of internet which made fantasy football popular around the world.Fantasy football is an interactive competition in which a person manages professional football players versus one another. Youngsters and teenagers are the biggest fan and lovers of fantasy football.
Movement is not a new thing in football but its importance is growing day by day in Football today. Today football players should have the tendency to drift out of their natural position and switch with teammates, thereby confusing the opposition about who they were supposed to be marking. Good off-the-ball movement in football today has the effect that it draws the opposition out of position, hopefully creating space in a key area. So keeping the rest tactics in mind off the ball movement cannot be rejected in football today.
One more amazing fact noticed in Football today is that College football games are more popular in some respects than professional football games .The reason of there popularity can be the many college football games played in the country as compared to the 32 teams of NFL.
Last but not the least today's media and websites over the internet are putting their effort best to provide best services regarding football today. Today a football lover can type football score in any search engine, and as a result can find a lot of webs offering what he demands. You can also find a lot of web sites, which keep you update with football score, results and fixture. But nothing can be compared to watching football today live on TV with your family and friends.

Duty Of Coach Is To Inspire and keep the football fixture in mind.

Duty Of Coach Is To Inspire and keep the football fixture in mind.
       Responsibility of football coach
You would have heard thousand of times on Tv the commentators talking about how inspiring a coach is to his players. How he motivates and inspires them, how he keeps an eye on the football fixture(Match or tournament being held at a specific place and time) routine to the plan the next match .These are all great traits, and they have their equal importance but you need to agree at my point that at the end of the day, it’s the coaching that helps the players most.
If you are a coach, you’re a teacher. You can be an “inspirer” and a “motivator”, but most importantly you should be a great coach, otherwise the other two traits aren’t going to get you very far. Being a coach you need to train the players in a way that they remain fit and healthy throughout the football fixture. Should never ignore the football fixture, as it tells the place and time where the match is going to be held and the players should get themselves prepared according to the place specified in football fixture, they should keep the weather and audience in mind.
So far this season, a few sideline conversations between coach and player have been caught on camera which I would like to share here.
Picture this in your mind:
Player runs off the football field after mucking up a play. Coach goes over and yells at the player, “I know you can do it, you know what you have to go do, I am sure you can do it?” Listing this the player, becomes proud and replies "Yeah coach, I know, I know” and Coach says “Then you gotta do it. You gotta get it done. I know you can do it.”

What’s forgotten? Yes you got it right! He forgot to tell the player what he can do to get the play done correctly. He should have told him his mistake as well, helping him see how to correct it. It seems like common sense, but sometimes in the heat of a football game, it’s the coaching, the actual one-on-one teaching for the players, that gets lost. So never let it happen.

The Premier League is beware because the Spanish are coming, led by brilliant Barcelona and Real Madrid

David villa and messi are best footballer of 2011

London could belong to Real Madrid or Barcelona next month while Dublin falls to the vibrancy of Villarreal.
However frustrating from a parochial English perspective, the purist should cherish the prolific Spanish, whose teams rattled in 14 goals in European competition last week. Joyfulness pervades Barcelona’s play, seen in the passing between Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta, disciples of a glorious gospel. Shakhtar Donetsk were elegantly eviscerated.
Glamour suffuses the white shirts of Real Madrid, evinced in the style and heavyweight substance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Xabi Alonso, much-missed alumni of the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur, who lost Peter Crouch to two stupid yellows, would have needed 12 to contain Jose Mourinho’s side. Down in the Europa League, a Villarreal side inspired by Borja Valero skewered FC Twente.
In an age when La Liga can boast Messi and Ronaldo, the Premier League stages a show without a real box-office star. The PFA shortlist for Player of the Year reveals as much: Samir Nasri, Gareth Bale, Nemanja Vidic, Charlie Adam, Scott Parker, Carlos Tévez and Rafael van der Vaart are all worthy nominees but lacking the golden allure of a Ronaldo or Messi, Iniesta or David Villa.
This is not to decry English football. For technique and sheer star-chamber vivacity, Spain prevails. No question. For day in, day out soap opera, for debating societies screeching across the airwaves, even for quick-fingered duelling amongst the twittering classes, English football is wonderfully intoxicating, a hearty ale to Spanish cava.
In a highly-competitive division which will see one of the shortest spread of points from champion to Championship-bound, each fixture promises much. Blackpool host nervy Arsenal on Sunday and Bloomfield Road will be rocking. Monday sees Manchester City visit Anfield, where the will to win will be as tangible as the atmosphere.
Yet those who question the depth of Spanish football, who depict La Liga as the Boat Race of football, a chase between Barcelona and Real Madrid, overlook the progress of Villarreal in the Europa League. If the admiring glances are spread to all of Iberia, the march of Portuguese sides like Benfica, Sporting Braga and Porto towards Dublin needs noting.
Before John Bull chokes on his Sunday roast, it needs stressing that this could yet be a glorious year for the English.
If Premier League pride is likely to be rescued by anyone it will be by Manchester United, who want to party like it’s 1999 again. Just as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side sealed their Treble in Barcelona, so they could achieve it again in London. Respected foe like Chelsea and Manchester City, and probably Schalke, bar their way but United could be setting up their Spring camp at Wembley, right beneath the FA offices. That will certainly give their voluble fans, still seething over Wayne Rooney’s ban, something more to sing about.
Even the most ardent fan would query whether this is a truly great United team. Slightly derided as the “Unconvincibles”, Ferguson’s class of 2011 still possess that resilience that has defined his best sides.
United keep rolling along, taking adversity in their stride, a band of brothers focused on the grand prizes. They are the team without a star; with a respectful nod to Nani, some of their best displays have come at the back.
Vidic has been exceptional while Edwin van der Sar could play another year, although he intends to step down for family reasons.
Chelsea still believe but must find their old confidence and smooth drive to overcome United on Tuesday to reach the Champions League semi-finals. The Spanish question will dominate Chelsea thinking; can Carlo Ancelotti dare omit Fernando Torres, Roman Abramovich’s £50 million January buy, after the striker’s stuttering European displays? That decision could decide Chelsea’s fate – and Ancelotti’s.
While Old Trafford should be buoyant this week, White Hart Lane will be in shock. It would be a mission improbable for Tottenham to recover from 4-0 down against visitors prepared by a coach of Mourinho’s immense cunning.
Yet Spurs will have learned from their remarkable European adventure, certainly Crouch will remember to stay on his feet rather than dive in rashly.
Harry Redknapp will be a better coach for the experience, however chastening, at the Bernabéu. Tottenham’s appetite will have been whetted for another campaign in Europe, requiring them to fight hard to finish fourth over the next few weeks.
A few miles west along the North Circular Road lies Wembley, and the odds remain strong on a Spanish triumph on May 28. If Barcelona or Madrid, who meet in the semis, do conquer the home of English football, how should the hosts react?
The Premier League is a fabulous success, the envy of sports marketing men the globe over, but the talent drain to Spain has to be an enduring concern for the organisation’s chief executive Richard Scudamore.
The Premier League cannot match assorted aspects of Spain’s appeal, such as a more favourable climate and tax conditions. Depending on Abramovich’s mood this summer, the recruitment of Neymar could bring some technical wonderment to England – as well as a few tumbles while the Brazilian finds his feet in a land that deplores simulation.
At some point, Mourinho will want to return to England, although he is expected to stay another year in Madrid. Real’s pursuit of Marseille’s Taye Taiwo indicates Mourinho is already building for next season.
Some encouragement can be found by reflecting on midweek events through the prism of country rather than club. England will take heart from Rooney’s touch, work-rate and goal, although his prominence through the centre for United contrasted with his subdued influence out wide against Wales. Rio Ferdinand slotted back seamlessly for United.
The English certainly need to show their A-game because the Spanish are coming.

Pakistan Lost the semi final of cricket Match in mohali due to pakistani government Match Fixing

Younis Khan drop a very easy catch but still smiling
1) Both governments were involved in match fixing coz India got a great opportunity to pressurize Pakistan for… table talk in which India was never interested. After losing the match Prime Minister Pakistan gave a speech & did not say a single word related to cricket match. Why ?
2) Pakistan lost the opportunity to become a host for World Cup matches coz of India, & India created a havoc that Pakistan is not a secure place for World Cup matches & they even ban Pakistan in IPL & now India will visit Pakistan (Unsecured State) for Test cricket series. Why ?
3) The chasing target was not tough but all players played badly except new comers (Misbah scored 14 runs & faced 35 Balls & it seemed that he was not interested to take a Single One Run & in last overs he started hitting wow, Younis scored only 13 Runs, Razzaq bowled on a simple straight ball, Wahab was keep trying to hitting the ball even he knew that after that over Power Play will start which is best for hitting. Why ?
4) Pakistani team put great efforts & took top position in Group A & it was not a weak team so how come it could be a weak team according to Indians ?
5) All players played well against Australia & today Misbah & Younis dropped catches of Tendulker & our fielding was also bad.
6) We all can see the the Batting of Misbah, Younus & Razzak which were totally careless & when Afridi came so he did not avail the Power Pay opportunity. Why ?
7) Our most performer bowler Umer Gul who said that he will break the top batting line of Indian Team but he gave 69 runs in 8 overs. After knowing that Afridi gave him the opportunity for bowling Why ?
