Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, and one of my favorite places to visit.

The country is breathtakingly beautiful, and you will find almost any kind of nature here; from snowy alps, vineyards ontop of hills and turquoise lakes to UNESCO World Heritage Cities and streets lined with watch shops.

1) Lake Geneva
Geneva is a large, turquoise and absolutely stunning lake with the quaintest villages and towns
surrounding it.

Starting from Geneva, the clean buisness city of the country, you can travel by train alongside with the lake and stop over in the many pretty towns and villages like Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux.
These towns are very close to each other and you can base yourself in one while exploring the others.
Vevey is a beautiful little place known for the invention of milk chocolate. From there you can explore the most amazing vineyards on the surrounding hills, taste the wine in little taverns next to the vineyards or just enjoy the views over the lake and wine fields.
A few minutes away towards Montreux you have Castle de Chillon, one of the most photographed
buildings in the country, perched right next to the lake.
Lake Geneva is at its most beautiful in autumn when the grapes are ripe and the leaves on the plants are changing color, but summertime is also great.

2) Interlaken
If you’re into adventure sports, Interlaken is the perfect place for you. Here it’s really popular to go Skydiving, Bungy jumping, paragliding and doing lots of watersports on the lake in summertime.
It’s a beautiful place reminding me very much of the Queenstown – the adventure capital in New
Zealand.

In wintertime people go there to check out Jungfraujoch, often called ”the top of Europe”, which is the highest train station in Europe at 3,454 meters (11,332 ft) above sea level. From there you can check out the ice palace or just walk around enjoying the views over the surrounding mountains and glaciers.
3) Graubunden
Graubunden is a very unique area of Switzerland. In this deep valley you will find towns with well preserved culture and traditions, some of the most beautiful nature and many well preserved mideival towns.

Graubunden is perfect for hikers, with plenty of signposted walkways, huts to sleep over in and
restaurants on the way.
The colors are beautiful in early autumn when the leaves are changing, and in wintertime the white snow lies like a veil over the pretty toy-looking villages.
The food there is different from the rest of Switzerland, and the cakes and sweets are the best – make sure you try their famous walnut cakes, Nusstorte.
In wintertime you can also go Sledging, which is definitely a highlight on any trip to Switzerland – in Graubunden this is a sport taken seriously, with competitions and everything!
